Pediatric Therapy

Our clinic houses a fully equipped gymnasium, a Pediatric room designed especially with our young population in mind and a heated pool to meet the needs of our patients who require Aquatic Therapy.

Our staff specializes in the treatment of infants and children of all ages with orthopedic development and neurological diagnosis, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Developmental delay
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Spina Bifida
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Tortocollis
  • Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Downs Syndrome

Every child we treat at the Center for Physical Therapy is precious to us. Our Staff will evaluate and develop an individualized treatment plan, specific to your child’s needs and the families’ request. Treatment for your child may include:

  • Land-based Therapy (Play Therapy, Balance Training, Gait Training, Developmental Training)
  • Aquatic Therapy (Tone Reduction, Stretching, Strengthening)

Play is incorporated into most pediatric treatments. It is our most important tool, maintaining the interest of your child while we work together toward your child’s therapeutic goals.

For the most part, therapy takes place in the office in our specially designed Pediatric Room or in the Aqua Therapy Pool when Aquatic Therapy is needed. For early intervention and preschool programs, we will gladly come to your home.

We are providers with NY State Early Intervention program. For more information visit Early Intervention of New York State:

Additional Services Offered:

Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy is an excellent adjunct to physical therapy. It provides a safe and efficient method for achieving movement.

Aquatic Therapy

The physical properties of water diminish the effects of gravity making the initial stages of rehabilitation much more effective. Using the combination of water principles and advanced techniques, our therapists can achieve a faster, yet safer rehabilitation.

The Center for Physical Therapy houses a pool unlike any other in Dutchess County. Our 16′ by 20′ therapy pool, custom built specifically for Aquatic Therapy, features multiple depths for ease of progression. The pool is equipped with a Badu system, a jet that provides 7-MPH of resistance to those who swim or run against it. 32 Jacuzzi jets provide our patients with massage, desensitization and relaxation.

Sports Therapy

We are affiliated with the local high schools, colleges (Marist, Vassar, the Culinary, Dutchess, Mt. Saint Mary’s) and clubs including track, bicycling, soccer and baseball.

Sports Therapy

Many of our staff are avid sports fans/athletes and have undergone many of the same injuries for which we currently treat.

The sports program is similar to the orthopedic section, yet there is a heavy emphasis on conditioning the whole body and returning the individual to his/her sport. It is not uncommon to find the therapist and athlete outside throwing a baseball, kicking a ball, shooting hoops or running with a sports cord. We have heard many people state “We are in better shape now than before we were injured”.
