Since 2008, NY State has allowed patients to come directly to physical therapy without a physician’s referral. This is called direct access. A patient can be seen up to thirty days without a prescription.
However, the majority of our patients are still referred by physicians and we work hand in hand with over 200 local M.D.’s. Your treatment will be based on physicians’ orders and goals established. We are readily equipped for all modalities and treatment regimes. We have protocols from many resources and will use them as a guide to your treatment. Your injury/condition will be explained in full detail and your plan will be set up for you on your initial evaluation.

Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic Therapy is an excellent adjunct to physical therapy. It provides a safe and efficient method for achieving movement.Aquatic Therapy
The physical properties of water diminish the effects of gravity making the initial stages of rehabilitation much more effective. Using the combination of water principles and advanced techniques, our therapists can achieve a faster, yet safer rehabilitation.
The Center for Physical Therapy houses a pool unlike any other in Dutchess County. Our 16′ by 20′ therapy pool, custom built specifically for Aquatic Therapy, features multiple depths for ease of progression. The pool is equipped with a Badu system, a jet that provides 7-MPH of resistance to those who swim or run against it. 32 Jacuzzi jets provide our patients with massage, desensitization and relaxation.
Sports Therapy
We are affiliated with the local high schools, colleges (Marist, Vassar, the Culinary, Dutchess, Mt. Saint Mary’s) and clubs including track, bicycling, soccer and baseball.Sports Therapy
Many of our staff are avid sports fans/athletes and have undergone many of the same injuries for which we currently treat.
The sports program is similar to the orthopedic section, yet there is a heavy emphasis on conditioning the whole body and returning the individual to his/her sport. It is not uncommon to find the therapist and athlete outside throwing a baseball, kicking a ball, shooting hoops or running with a sports cord. We have heard many people state “We are in better shape now than before we were injured”.
